As students grow, they are ready to tackle more sophisticated work and to manage a more intensive schedule. The Young Actors’ Ensemble is a big step on the PGT actors’ creative journey, as they begin to focus more intensely on the craft. This program is designed to provide the professional tools and skills every performer needs to continue this artistic process.

Students in the Young Actors’ Ensemble participate in three different classes each day. Each class is an opportunity to explore new ideas and foster their growing skills in the performing arts. The students will see a variety of teaching artists each day and throughout the week. Classes include Acting, Dance, Voice and Diction, Stage Combat, Masks, Yoga, Improvisation, Accents and Dialects, Monologues, and more.

Three hours every day are dedicated to rehearsal. All students in the Young Actors’ Ensemble will be cast in a fully-produced ensemble based musical. This is their first opportunity at PGT Summer to incorporate character development, storyline, costumes, technical elements and backstage etiquette into their work. Shows are chosen based on the number of students and their ages, with an eye toward what will both challenge and inspire the artistic abilities of each cast.

This program is a complete immersion into the world of theatre. Members of the Young Actors’ Ensemble are asked to take creative risks in each class and rehearsal, and to support one another through the artistic process. The result is a non-competitive environment, where each student flourishes, both individually and as a member of the artistic ensemble.
